There are numerous ways to support GRID’s vision, whether by writing to community groups and local politicians supporting GRID, or by pointing out, to backers of projects with negative consequences for your community, how GRID is the superior alternative in its environmental, economic, and quality-of-life impacts.
Southern California International Gateway (SCIG)
The BNSF’s Southern California International Gateway is a “near dock” container transfer facility that, while well-intentioned, is sorely lacking. It still uses trucks to move a small portion of port container traffic between the ports and its new railyard, and it will not mollify LA residents outraged at seeing yet more pollution and congestion imposed on their communities in the name of globalization. There must be a better way, a more imaginative way, and there is: GRID, which you can study on this website.GRID is the only project that supports shipping without oppressing the communities of Eastern LA county, and deserves serious consideration.
The Port of Los Angeles is accepting public comment on SCIG’s Draft Environmental Impact Report until November 9th, 2012. Please go to their webpage (below), read materials they provide links to, and write a comment proposing GRID as the truly environment- and community-friendly alternative, one which will also complement rail company operations.
Direct email link, for those familiar with SCIG and the DEIR: ceqacomments@portla.org The Port says that “Comments sent via email should include the project title in the subject line and a valid mailing address in the email.”
If you wish only to sign a petition opposing SCIG, go to the Coalition for Clean Air website.

I-710 Expansion
GRID replaces I-710 freeway traffic with electric drone trains running silently below ground. Read our short analysis of the alternatives—clean, quiet, efficient GRID, or yet more truck traffic through already-battered neighborhoods—by clicking the link below:
This is your chance to join us in building a cleaner and more prosperous future. Please comment on the project, mentioning GRID as the “Superior Environmental Alternative,” at the Metro webpage linked to below:

Deadline for comments using this form is September 28, 2012, so act today. This is a chance to veer our region away from development modes that have served only to increase traffic congestion far beyond the increase in population over the last seventy years.
